Make a Difference

Please be Christ's hands

We have an opportunity to serve our neighbors in Christ's Name: InnVision needs our help distributing fresh fruits, vegetables and other food to people in need. InnVision handles all the "paperwork" and decisions — they just need help bagging the groceries from their supplies, USUALLY on the 4th Thursday of every month, from 9:00 AM to about 12:00 noon.

If you are retired, work part time, are a stay-at-home parent who'd like to have a few hours out, or just have time, this is the perfect opportunity for you. There is some lifting and carrying, but it is NOT required! Call the Office for more information. Location: At the InnVision warehouse at 7th and Commercial Street in San Jose.

Relief for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti

UMCOR (the United Methodist on Relief) and UMVIM (United Methodist Volunteers in Mission) are working to provide both immediate and long-term help to the people of Haiti. United Methodists have had a long-standing relationship with Haiti through the Methodist Church of Haiti. Some of the UMC's workers were killed and injured in the earthquake.

The Church is putting together teams of people to go to Haiti to work over the next few months, and seeks Volunteers to lead such teams. To learn more, go to www.umrespond.org/haiti to register as a possible volunteer. It is from this database that teams will be assembled, and you will have access to more detailed information about types of work, dates of service, costs etc. as the information is available. If you are interested in leading a team, please contact the church office for the dates of the training classes taught locally.

Our congregation has raised over $2000 for Haiti relief, through UMCOR. Support for relief efforts can be made to Haiti Emergency, UMCOR Advance # 418325. You can send your check directly to UMCOR, or you can deposit it in the Worship offering — just mark it clearly for UMCOR/Haiti. Remember, 100% of gifts to UMCOR support the designated project.
